Hello from Austria - A walk through the Raabklamm and a visit to Graz - a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Posted by GOO | Posted in , , , , , , | Posted on 17:59

Inspired from my cave adventure yesterday, I met my friends Andrea and Herbert early morning on a hike through the gorge Raab (Raab River Gorge), via the mountains of limestone, which is more than 700 caves, including the famous hole cat and keep the lawn surrounding the cave, two caves open to the public and the main attractions of the region of Weiz.

Once again, we drove through the rolling hills of the mountain Goettel, Haselbach, Lesko and Dürntal for our car near a parkPoint of entry of the throat of Raab. Andrea had given me some Nordic walking sticks, which I wanted to try for the first time called Nordic walking, also known as pole walking or fitness walking is a sport that is walking with modified ski poles. Originally popular in Finland and Scandinavia, Nordic Walking has become extremely popular throughout Europe, although not quite yet caught on in North America.

Initially I was a bit 'skeptical about the concept, butwhen I tried walking, I realized that he was walking up and down, is much easier, because the sticks extra support and balance is established. And the constant movement of the arm burns calories up to 40% more than walking alone and speeds up the movement, even on flat terrain. The additional benefit of Nordic walking is that some of its own weight at the poles, which is distributed reduces pressure on shoulders and knees and hips.

Now convincedThe Benfits of walking pole, we started our descent towards the valley Raab on a first floor, then steeply sloping street. Raabklamm gorge is the longest in Austria, is split into "Big Raabklamm" (large Raab Gorge) with a length of about 10 km, and the "Little Raabklamm (small Raab Gorge, about 7 km in length). We were just on Great Raabklamm the wildest of the two routes, which is characterized by vertical limestone rocks, wooden bridges, the point of suspensionBridges, walks along the river and parts of the trail moving out of the water and take a higher part of the track. I had already explored the small Raabklamm past Saturday, my sister-in-law Anneliese.

Raabklamm the same has to be very natural and just and is home to a diverse group of animals such as foxes, badgers and wild sheep, a species of wild sheep, also known as "Antelope goat" means. Amphibians asSalamanders and a selection of different birds of prey have Raabklamm as protected designation of Natura 2000 area, at European level of reserves made. The plant life along the steep limestone also contains remnants of ancient forests of pine and a variety of alpine plants.

We have covered only a fraction of the total size Raabklamm and occasionally walked along the river, and other times we walked away from the river at the foot of the gorge. MyFriend Herbert uses some of the bridges to demonstrate the laws of physics and began to shake the contraption, while Andrea and I went together. Fortunately, the suspension bridges are very robust and all the paths and stairs are well maintained. After an hour and a half of walking we reached the dam that is part of a local hydroelectric generation. This area of Austria was electrified by the end of 1800, mainly at the initiative of local electricity --Pioneer Franz Pichler. To this day of supply of electricity from hydroelectric power about two-thirds of all electricity in my home town of Weiz in Austria and has been used, one of the first centers of hydro-electricity production.

After admiring look for some very old equipment, hydroelectric generation, we returned to the local road and went back to my car, we had parked earlier, the starting point. Andrea and Herbert had to leave and I am planning my trip to Graz, thenProvincial capital. But first I had to keep my appetite and I was only a minute away from a famous local restaurant, whose Austrian dishes were sure to take the place of work. Reisinger Inn is one of the restaurants near the Raabklamm. In fact, the Austrian concept of the "Inn" is much more rustic and down to earth compared to North America "restaurant". A guest house (literally translated as "inn") will serve as a rule, solid traditional Austrian cuisine;often you will also have a terrace, because the food is fresh air is very popular in Austria, and many guest houses also offer bed and breakfast.

This is indeed the case for pension Reisinger, providing not only an Austrian cuisine and a lovely terrace, but also functions as a bed and breakfast, especially for visitors from other places such as Vienna or other urban parts of Austria and Germany. I sat on long admired the menu and on twoLocal specialties:) a "Fritattensuppe" (pancake soup of Gaza, something that I always several times when I eat at home again, as a "Mulbratlbrot" - a piece of rye bread Austrian, covered by a thin layer of butter and thin slices cut a special offer smoked pork, garnished with horseradish.

Rye bread with a variety of different sausages, covered or smoked meat is a typical in-between meals in Austria, and is also a popular snack for hikers and visitorsa tavern "(a rustic restaurant with local foods and are run by a local wine). In this perfect day the sun seemed down, and I enjoyed the hills and the tranquility of eastern Styria. Once again, I realized that the area I grew up in a neck of the woods was very nice. The owner of the restaurant, Mr. Reisinger, my food and we started chatting a bit 'to the fact that I am actually a local who had emigrated Canada more than 20Years. He uses the other side to work full time in maintenance at a local wood processing plant until a few years ago, when his parents began to request assistance from full time. Since then he has his full-day care facility, along with his wife and children, running a typical Austrian family-based-business was.

The food was delicious, and after I take an ice cream for dessert was perfect preparation for my next goal: Graz, capital of Styria andthe second largest city in Austria. Just minutes from the restaurant I took my car back on a look at the hills have a single moment of my favorite parts when I grew up, and some were lounging around a cow pasture large.

Much of Austria livestock industry is still based on methods of field, and adds an important contribution to the economy of the country. About 80,000 farms themselves, some 2.1 million cattle, of which about 800,000 dairy cows. Only 5.5% ofAustrian breeding cattle are more than 100 animals, and the small size of farms to ensure a close link between farmers and their animals. These cows were obviously enjoying their carefree lifestyle and their full ability to walk on hilly pastures.

If I put my record of over 25 km of country roads rolling in larger towns and cities in Styria. With a population of about 250,000 is the second city of Graz in Austria. Although this is a significant regionalIndustry Center, Graz is not as small cities like Salzburg and Innsbruck known. Because of its architectural heritage has been impeccably maintained, supported by UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, was the European Capital of Culture in 2003. Its name comes from the Slovenian word "Gradec" literally means "small fortress derives.

Eastern entrance of the town is a suburb named Maria Trost, topped by the great pilgrimage church of Maria Trost. Iremained at the top of the hill Purberg, parked my car and went off to a great restaurant, the front of the church. The basilica Maria Trost (Mariatrost) was built from 1714-1724 in baroque style.

The frescoes inside the church are particularly noteworthy. Two massive towers 61 meters and the dome of the church still on the east side of the structure and can be seen from a distance. The facade of the church is accessible by a staircase calledAngelus stairs. To this day the basilica Maria Trost is the second most important pilgrimage (to Mariazell) in the Austrian province of Styria.

If I put my journey into the heart of Graz and parked my car in the garage next to the Graz Opera - at more than 20 euro is not just a cheap way to visit the city, parking lots at affordable prices, but is difficult to find in downtown Graz my first stop was the Graz Opera House, a neo-baroque building, which was opened in 1899and damaged in an air raid during the Second World War. A few steps farther west I reached the Herrengasse, the main shopping street of the city of Graz, surrounded by dozens of high-end retailers and restaurants with outdoor terraces. A streetcar line in Graz continues along the length of this major road.

The west side of Herrengasse there are two main attractions: Armory (Arsenal), a museum with exhibits about 32,000 weapons, including belts, helmets, armor, weapons andGuns, and the country house, the seat of the provincial government of Styria. One of the most beautiful Renaissance is one of Central Europe, this building was in the first half of the 16th, designed by the famous architect Domenico dell'Allio built. The courtyard at three levels is a real gem on the south side of the square Cellar restaurant in historic country house, which is an attractive courtyard terrace for relaxation.

Across theHerrengasse is the "Painted House" - "like a duke (Duke Painted House or Summer), whose baroque frescoes painted a house in 1742 was created by John Mayer and show the gods of greek and Roman mythology. Located a short walk north of there, I reached the square "root of Graz," or main square of Graz This comprehensive substantially triangular square is two-sided story of five or six houses in a variety of rich colors of the Baroque, such as salmon, ocher paintings framed,Red brick, and many have detailed facade ornaments.

The south side of the square is the "Town Hall" - the fiery end of the historicism of the 19th century Palazzo in the city of Graz, "Hall said. Directly opposite is the Erzherzog Johann Brunnen (Erzherzog-Johann-Fontana), various neighboring fast -food stands and retail that typical Austrian sausages, chips, selling flowers and magazines, and chestnuts in the autumn is surrounded. On the north-easternPiazza is a look at the symbol of Graz ": the" Clock Tower (Clock Tower), the castle hill overlooking the city away.

I continued my journey north through the pedestrian zone along the historic road and was blinded in reality, a historic restaurant, the "cancer Keller (Keller lobsters) was home to a restaurant since 1538 and her yard was full of fans culinary arts. Across the street is the famous Hotel Erzherzog Johann, who is also a restaurantsince 1852. Just steps further north I walked into another historic building whose courtyard was adorned with a metal sculpture that surprisingly featured all sorts of American footballs.

Metres away is the so-called Schlossbergplatz, a square framed by various bourgeois houses and historic restaurants that features stairs up to the Schlossberg. I then crossed the road and walked southwards alongside the Mur River to one of the newest landmarks of Graz: the "Murinsel" (Mur Island) was Built in 2003, when Graz, European Capital of Culture. The New York designer Vito Acconci created a project for an artificial island, which connects the eastern and western sides of the Mur and wants to look like a shell. The interior of the island is an amphitheater, a restaurant and a playground for children.

Now I had to explore the height of the most important city: the Schlossberg (literally "Castle Hill"). I did this to make it SchlossbergbahnPart of public transport Graz The original steam powered funicular railway was opened in November 1894 and was in operation until 1960. After a complete renovation and reconstruction of steep rails, the cable car began operating again in 1961 until it closed its doors in February 2004.

The third generation of this line was launched in early 2004 and will cost about EUR 2.5 million. The new generation of vehicles is more spacious and features fully glazed roofsWindows that offer sweeping views of the city, as you climb up the mountain. It takes only two minutes from the valley at 123 meters, while the upper station and at a price of 1.70 €, is an inexpensive and interesting to be famous hill in Graz

Top I stepped on the terrace of a restaurant that offers a breathtaking view over the city and surrounding mountains. Walking distance, I saw the Campanile (Bell Tower), a historic building1588 homes, or a bell, which weighs 4,200 kg and is known as Liesl. Schlossberg used for a medieval castle dating back to 1500 (hence the name "Castle Hill"), was ordered destroyed by Napoleon in 1809, the function. Only the bell tower and symbol of Graz, the Clock Tower, were allowed to remain on the fortress. The residents had paid a substantial ransom, the French troops to maintain their milestone.

Walk south of the tower, I cameto Stallbastei ( "Stable Bastion"), a fortress, which has 20 meters high and 6 meters thick walls, whose construction began in 1544. Today there are several guns to decorate the walls and the open area outside the building there is a beautiful city view. Directly beneath the bastion is the "turkish Fountain" (in turkish: Well), a well 94 meters deep, which draws groundwater of the river Mur. His intention was to provide water even during prolongedSiege.

The clock tower is known far and wide as the symbol of the city of Graz, is one of the oldest buildings in the city. The core of the tower should come from the 13 Century and was mentioned in historical documents for the year 1265. Its present appearance dates back to 1560. Four large dials adorn the four sides of the tower and the interesting thing to note is that the hour hand is smaller than the minute hand.

Originally the tower was just a greatHours of hands and the hands that were installed minutes later had to be reduced so that people would be able to distinguish one from another. Fortunately, because of the ransom paid in 1809, the tower has survived, and we still can see today, while the rest of the fortress was razed. The tower was used as a fire alarm bell, like the bell of the poor sinner, "which was played on executions, and when the bell announcing the final hours for the hospitalityCompanies.

Directly beneath the clock tower is a small garden surrounded by flowers, which offers a magnificent view over the city and its main square. I started making my way out of the castle hill, along the serpentine path, as in the park and the entrance to Castle Hill Castle Hill tunnels (the tunnel), part of the tunnel, which is built into the mountain and was used as a bomb shelter during the air raids of World War II. Today you can cross the foot of the mountainthrough this tunnel. At the base, I reached the square Karmeliterplatz. One of the buildings on the north side of the adjacent Sporgasse also has a nice yard and would like more time to explore the treasures hidden in the secret courts of Graz "too.

I turned left onto a street called Hofgasse and remained in a very particular building, the bakery Edegger-tax, a so-called Royal Bakery, the oldest structure in Graz, which dates back to 1569 This beautiful 1896sculptured portal distinguishes it from neighboring houses and stucco at the end of 1800, the bakery has become the official supplier to the royal families ruling Austria.

My path, the Square of Liberty ( "Freedom Square"), which is the Graz Theater across the street from the Schauspielhaus of Graz Cathedral, a cathedral, the dates from 1438. The south side of this late-Gothic church is a painting adorned with the three plagues: the BlackPlague, war and grasshoppers. Kuk and coat of arms of Styria and Portugal links old aristocrat.

Right next to the cathedral is the tomb of Austrian Emperor Franz Ferdinand II, one of the most important structures in Austria mannerist and early Baroque. Developed in late 1600, is the last home of Franz Ferdinand and many other Habsburgs.

I continued my walk through the streets and turned into publicAbraham a Santa Clara, the little side street until I came to Glockenspielplatz (Carillon Square), built to match the chimes in 1905 that attracts crowds of spectators admitted three times daily at 11 clock, 3-6 pm. A pair of wood dressed in traditional robes of Styria, and the male with a glass of wine raised, the dance of old songs from 24 bells.

The whole area is part of the Bermuda Triangle (Bermuda Triangle), which is the area of Graz's most popular entertainment around the centerMehlplatz, Prokopigasse and Färberplatz. Dozens of resort accommodations, most groped with outdoor terrace, locals and tourists to explore the cuisine and entertainment options, has to offer Graz

Through one of small steps, I landed on the main square and took another street full of bars, restaurants and small shops on the back of the Franciscan Church) (Franciscan Church. From the front of the church is tocompleted a perfect view of the Mur des "Kunsthaus, Graz was the" Museum of Modern Art in 2003, and rounded like a spaceship. The entire city of Graz is full of bars and restaurants and all the squares and streets are full of "Schanigarten") (open-air courtyard, sit down, enjoy the peace and to attract some 'Austrian plenty of food and beverages.

I had really enjoyed my exploration of Graz, and went home with my brother and sister-in-law and relaxationreflect on a day full of discoveries. It would be much to see in Graz, but I left some destinations for the next visit. After a nice pizza dinner in a local restaurant in Weiz I went to bed early because tomorrow we will go through a great trip: a journey among the mountains of Slovenia and Italy!

Bangkok & the Beaches Handbook (Footprint - Travel Guides) Overviews

Thailand is an Asian cliché. Exotic, inscrutable, hot, Oriental, delicate, sumptuous... Take the first few hours of an average visitor's arrival in Bangkok. Off the plane and into a gleaming new airport terminal. Lilting Thai voices, and a strange alphabet. Into the city along an elevated highway in the company of an apparently deranged taxi driver with a magic diagram inscribed on the roof of his car, a picture of a long-dead king lodged reverently in the tachometer, a cheap gold Buddha glued to the top of the dashboard, and a garland of plastic frangipani hanging from the rear-view mirror. Out of the taxi and into a quiet, cool hotel with copies of the Asian Wall Street Journal artfully arranged in reception and CNN in the bedrooms. Or into a small guesthouse run by a Thai bobbing to Bob Marley and offering sweltering rooms the size of chicken coops for the price of a dozen eggs.

While most people do touch base in effervescent Bangkok, and some grow to love the city, for many it is just a means to an end, a way station en route to the islands, beaches and towns of the south. With 2,614 km of coastline, there's a lot of potential. But, while many come to Thailand in search of a simple hut on a quiet beach, the challenge is to find one before the next person - or the next 10,000 people - get there. The pace of change is sometimes bewildering. Bear in mind that in the early 1970s Phuket was a forgotten backwater. But it is still possible to find simple bungalow accommodation for a couple of dollars a night, and probably a quiet beach, clear waters and an empty hammock.

Fearless Men and Fabulous Women: A Reporter's Memoir from Alaska & the Yukon Overviews

In a memoir overflowing with humor, excitement, and a sense of "being there" for major events, reporter Stanton H. Patty reflects on a fifty-year career covering heroic, larger-than-life characters and the roles they played in the history of Alaska and the Yukon. Patty recounts the struggles of Alaska's Native people to win their rightful land claims, goes whaling with Eskimo friends, and flies with daring Bush pilots-his boyhood heroes. This son of pioneer Alaskans also tells of a boy's life in rough-and-tumble gold camps along the Yukon River. He salutes women of the north country-"unstoppable," he calls them-who mushed dog teams, survived the brutality of World War II in the Aleutian Islands, and made comfortable homes on a challenging frontier. He documents the Good Friday earthquake that jolted Alaska in 1964. He meets the one and only Klondike Kate, Charles A. Lindbergh, and other notables.

Fearless Men and Fabulous Women: A Reporter's Memoir from Alaska & the Yukon CustomerReview

Stanton Patty's book, Fearless Men & Fabulous Women, was nothing short of a wonderful read. When you sit down to read this book, don't expect to just read bits and pieces over a period of time. You are going to want to keep plowing through it to the end. Each chapter brings out a new and different person or adventure that keeps the pages turning. His writing style, obviously influenced heavily by his many years as a journalist, was free from jargon and colloquialisms that might prove distracting to most readers.

His stories vary widely. They include both men and women; politicians and prostitutes; even bush pilots and tug boat captains. Each person comes to life, almost as if the reader were there looking over Patty's shoulder.

From the time it hit my desk I just kept turning the pages in anticipation of what the next chapter would bring. I think you've got a very hot book on your hands with this one. It's going to be popular not only with Alaskans who have heard stories about all of the men and women in his book, but also with people from Outside who just want to know more about the fearless men and fabulous women who made this a great place to live and work.

My two favorite chapters where those that dealt with the author's childhood growing up at a gold mine and the chapter about the Queen of the Klondike, Klondike Kate. But then again, I am biased.

At the end of it all, the one thought that came immediately to my mind was, "If I could only meet half of the people that Stanton Patty did, I would have lived a full and exciting life."

Admitting: Webster's Timeline History, 2006 - 2007 Overviews

Webster's bibliographic and event-based timelines are comprehensive in scope, covering virtually all topics, geographic locations and people. They do so from a linguistic point of view, and in the case of this book, the focus is on "Admitting," including when used in literature (e.g. all authors that might have Admitting in their name). As such, this book represents the largest compilation of timeline events associated with Admitting when it is used in proper noun form. Webster's timelines cover bibliographic citations, patented inventions, as well as non-conventional and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities in usage. These furthermore cover all parts of speech (possessive, institutional usage, geographic usage) and contexts, including pop culture, the arts, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This "data dump" results in a comprehensive set of entries for a bibliographic and/or event-based timeline on the proper name Admitting, since editorial decisions to include or exclude events is purely a linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under "fair use" conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain.

This is a thorough and conscientious work. However, I also appreciate the work for the directions in which it could have potentially taken the inquiry (i.e. where it pointed but didn't take us). For example, the concern that the federal government could require Google furnish the personal information of its users is misplaced.

fireflySun DOT com/book/Google2.php

And victims of gang cyberstalking might welcome such a registry. Consider the following:

1. Stalking gangs use Google to search IP addresses to keep tabs on the activities of its victims, often disrupting their relationships with third parties and collecting information to create / disseminate dossiers.

2. Just a single post by an epileptically-posting belligerent in Usenet's unmoderated news groups (over 90% of which amount to flame wars) is cloned by news readers (as many times as there are news readers to archive it to the web under a unique URL). Google then archives all these posts, and they rank highly in a search of your name in Google.

3. Google's customer service could not keep pace with its OCD-like hoarding of content, and when you request that Google remove a link to a malicious and libelous message containing nothing accurate except your illicitly-procured residential address and phone number, Google threatens by claiming that if you compel them with a legal document to remove any message, your name and document will be referred to a free speech web site for blacklisting (chillingeffects.org).

So Google itself, and our infatuation with it (and dependence on it), is still young enough that we ignore the fact Google is a public safety and health risk (i.e. "The Great Repression").

Venturing in Southern Greece: Through Villages and Vineyards (Travelers' Tales) Overviews

Made famous by Homer, the stunning hillsides and islands of southern Greece seem to have been forgotten by modern tourists. This exciting anthology invites travelers to expand their itineraries beyond Athens and explore the territory once roamed by Odysseus. Filled with vivid accounts that transport the reader to the Peloponnesus, the collection depicts many facets of life in this beautiful region, from award-winning wineries to hiking trails, from household olive groves to ancient ruins. No longer threatened by the Cyclops, the island of Elafanisos is now a haven of beaches and tavernas. Monemvasia’s citadel is in ruins, but the town and surrounding vineyards thrive. The writers plunge into Greek village life with abandon, learning to sing folksongs and dance to the bazouki, and sampling local wines, olives, and savory dishes. Entertaining and poignant, the essays capture all the charms, both ancient and modern, of this delightfully undiscovered region.

Basic first aid for your outdoor holiday

Posted by GOO | Posted in , , , | Posted on 16:56

If you're planning an outdoor holiday and hiking is on the list of activities, can be a good idea to update on some basic first aid. Three of the most important skills of first aid hikers can learn are CPR, the Heimlich maneuver and treatment of fractures.

Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is used to return someone to normal breathing. CPR training is much better, but in the meantime, here are some tips that can help if you experience an emergency situation, whileHiking.

First, call 911 or immediately to the local emergency team, if you can. Scream out loud to a specialist or doctor who may be on a path near or apartment. If necessary, especially if the person takes on a bluish color, there are a few things and checked.

Examine how the problem occurred. If swimming in cold water, can easily catch fire. A good atmosphere will not suffice in these situations. Well, if she went underWater and left the country, try on his stomach, and remove the water from the short, modest compression on the membrane below the chest just above his stomach.

Put them on your back, your nose and breathe into his mouth, while for any expansion breast. Then stop and tend to the contours of the body, leaving the water in the body. Repeat this process with two breaths of two seconds. If this fails, try the heart massage firmly downwardsjust above the diaphragm, along the breastbone.

Secondly, it uses the Heimlich maneuver to foreign bodies, such as food, from air to eliminate the effect of respiration. It does not affect the person's chest to guide this means that the object lodge deeper in the neck.

Rather, they get up, move behind you and grasp his wrist with your other hand so that the bone is at the base of the thumb against his body. Make a quick, firm step towards the inside against the membrane observedto expel the object. You may need to be repeated several times, but be sure to press against the diaphragm and not just the chest.

Finally, it can cause fractures ranging from a simple walk to break a painful, complicated fracture. The fracture is a more serious compound fracture where the bone protruding from the skin, leaving the additional risk of infection. Apply a sterile gauze to cover the wound. Splint is used to keep the leg straight and immobilized, if it is a rightStick or cane. Save the limb with medical tape or a screw thin, if not exist.

Not groped to straighten the fracture, and be careful not to completely shut off the flow of blood to avoid the leg to gangrene.

If granted, that in all these situations, you want to get professional help as soon as possible. Accommodation in the vicinity is a good starting point, if any. But never more to roam and instead opt for a golfing holiday in La Manga, Spain

Hiker's Guide to the High Sierra Yosemite: The Valley and Surrounding Uplands (High Sierra Hiking Guide) CustomerReview

The 7th edition of this book, like its predecessors, is essentially a guide to the Valley and southern half of Yosemite National Park. Originally conceived as a hiking resource for the old 15' topo maps of the Sierras, this book offers 25 fabulous dayhikes which range from 1 to 16.5 miles. The nice thing about this selection is that you can even experience brief moments of solitude on many of these walks, even on the Yosemite Valley Floor; not an easy trick. With its companion volume to Tuolumne Meadows one has a pretty good guide to the park. Schaffer also throws in 5 nice backpack trips for those who would like to further explore the backcountry.

There are, however, many hiking guides to Yosemite. What makes this one stand out is that Schaffer has done more original field research into the geology and topography of the park than virtually all other guidebook authors combined. His conclusions are that the Sierras are far older than previously thought, and that glaciers had only minimal impact in shaping the Valley as we see it today. Rather, the Valley's stunning cliffs are the result of millions of years of weathering and breakage along fault and joint lines. Much of his research is condensed into this volume and following his trail routes is also incidentally a natural history lesson on the origins of this stunning place. For this alone it is worth the read and well worth a five star rating.

But this book is also quite valuable for its maps. Schaffer has lent his expertise to the maps in several Wilderness Press titles, including the 3 volume set on the Pacific Crest Trail and the guide to the Tahoe Rim Trail. The map included in this volume is far more accurate than the old 15' topo maps, or even the new 7.5' maps insofar as the trails are concerned. Between the fascinating text and the separate folded map, this book is a bargain and deserves wide readership.

Backpack - high quality at an affordable price

Posted by GOO | Posted in , , , , , , | Posted on 11:51

Spring is just around the corner, which means that it is the perfect time to start planning for fun, exciting outdoor activities. This also means that you need to shop for the perfect backpack for hiking, and if like me, you only need to make sure that the hardware-specific discount hiking backpacks, which do not jeopardize the quality at low cost. First, though, you have to choose between two different types of backpacks for your needs: an inner frameA backpack or external frame?

Internal frame backpacks are more suitable for men or women with short stature, since the entire internal structure backpacks keep weight centered on the ground and does not change the center of balance. The framework more tractable, it also means that exactly matches the body of the wearer, who meet in a much smaller size and reduced opportunities for hiking bag snagging branches and obstacles close. Last but not least, they tend to belighter than external frame backpacks. I discovered that many of the seemingly low cost discount hiking backpacks are tags, not because they are sold at lower prices, but because they are very small and the price according to size, so be careful.

Backpacks exterior on the other hand, generally can carry heavier loads. Packaging of products is easier than as external frame packs are much more tolerant of the elements in the form of embarrassment. In addition to its versatility, these tend backpacks and much more durable changelonger than their counterparts within the frame, and last but not least, external frame packs are usually less expensive than an internal structure similar backpacks, backpack you can find most of the size of discounts, which say, the outer frame.

As mentioned above, people will be much easier with the small stature, with an internal frame backpack are as they are usually smaller and provide a stable load than the other party outside. External frame packsThe women less features such as a belt and shoulder embarrassing position. Women in general should choose an internal frame backpack. Fortunately, there are more internal external frame backpacks now, and you stand a better chance to pack off for women.

Men with bulky frames soften more in the direction of the external frame backpacks, because these species are classified as a male is relatively smaller than the internal andgenerally offer more space for all their articles. It is relatively affordable price makes it even more attractive to price conscious people, and the chances are discounted hiking backpacks are easy to find, despite a lower number.

After making the selection of backpacks, according to body size, means (such as the choice of the backpack off carefully, make sure there is because of manufacturing defects or affect the quality discount), not to mention specific professional needs (forYou seem so), you are ready to do some 'planning for your camping or outdoor trip. Just make sure that all the necessary elements to make for a safe trip and always plan for the worst, hoping for the best. The beauty of nature and the many exciting facets await.

Sales success in Tough Economy - Managing Holidays stall

Posted by GOO | Posted in , , , | Posted on 22:40

At best the economy, many mentally closed during the months of November and December, putting off purchases until "after the first day of the year." The prospect, then moves into a comfort zone that is not based reality. Nobody can accurately predict what will happen in two months, a month or tomorrow. A purchase decision on 20 November would be actually a smart move, as a purchase on January 5. The products or services offered by the sellerprobably not 'better', cheaper, or more emphasis on perspective, after a two-months delay. Created the pain, anguish, or missed opportunity that the need for the product or service remains firmly on the shoulders of view, as a backpack full of hiking uphill bound.

After the December page of the calendar is flipped to reveal the bright new tomorrow, on 1 January found, the same perspective, the justification to delay decisions holidaysfound new reasons for the delay. Sales staff quickly learn that the words "to me after the first call of the Year" at a dead end, and the wheel itself, spinning, talking to 30 or 60 days.

The professional sellers are required to take into account the views of the objections to the surface and then sell consistently, confidently and aggressively to these objections. Although it is undeniable that the common sense and a solid strategy for success: "I will wait until after the first part of the year"There is no objection. This is a stalling tactic that masks the real opposition. To motivate the seller, the prospect of a place of detention for this strategy, the opposition will be hidden. Long as the objection remains hidden, not the sale takes place.

We are in a difficult economic situation, such as those we faced in 2009, the prospects for greater emphasis to wait, and less likely to "move handshake agreements" our honor. A seller will receive an invitation toThe night before picking up a check the next morning, on the cancellation of the appointment. If it is a signed contract in place with a clearly defined policy of cancellation is that the seller is the only way to kick the sale of up to experience and move on to the next, hopefully better prospects.

Sales of all the wisdom of the world, but not 25 Now to our existing 24 hours a day. If you are in dealing with the "Call me after the first year of the barn" to be ineffective, and if you spend too much time dealing with prospects who have already "decided not to decide" to close the year with an empty pipeline and lack of revenue. It is necessary to maximize the effectiveness of every hour in your day, from a more compact and self-qualification process for your potential customers.

The first answer to wait: "I just after the first year" could logically "What is gained by waiting?" SinceThe prospects for using delaying tactics with suppliers are more inclined to use consistently and almost unconsciously, like the automatic pilot, they are less likely to be ready for a seller, willing to defy the wisdom of the decision. You must be very careful, the application and not to question, as you pull the curtain that separates you from the narrow perspective of an imaginary security in their comfort zone. Demand too abruptly or in what the prospectperceived as a way of comparison or trial, and will be further back, so that your task more difficult.

If the application accordingly, the answers vary. You can hear "I have money now," that certainly may be true, it means that have no justification for taking the time with this in mind, until he received money.

On the other hand, "I have no money now" could mean "I do not want to give too muchare you "or" I did, but because they have not sufficiently convinced of my return on investment, I am not prepared to think about how we are able to see this happening today. "They have failed to create a sense of urgency is the cornerstone of an escalating cycle of sale.

Seller, thinking "may make the prospect of a purchase today, with the right amount of flattery often step into death traps in this place. The first is to remove the prices and profit margins in slash a sale nearby, offering an "agreement". Only affect the profits of today, is set by the seller in mind the perspective as a person who can be manipulated on the basis of price.

The second trap is the smaller, additional payments to offer. This strategy might work, but if, with the prospect that the lack of funding to be used legally, may not be able to honor the full list of additional payments. If a service is executed, the seller can not "> Return "service. If the goods are delivered on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, the seller can withdraw immediately, future deliveries, but whether this is a one-time purchase, the seller is the only way to make the legal action to recover assets that have been sold.

If the seller is successful, the prospect of a desire to wait, and to discover legitimate objection to a question, you can begin the sales process. There are other incentives than the price-cutting, which can be used to promote,a buy for today's decision, as a guarantee or discounts extended reasonably legitimate.

When it comes to a halt, there are two types of perspectives. First classes, because that's how it works. Procrastination and must apologize to the Scriptures "." Because they can be fickle and sounded like a leaf in the wind, are less likely candidates for the trust, profitable customers.

The second type of stalls perspective, why take the feara risk, no matter how big or small, has this to do with it for them simply enjoy the risk blinded. They need understanding and support for the separation of a real, checkpoint properties to a situation in a more 'applied creativity could be solved, and it is this arena that seems to be the business seller.

Knowing the difference between these two types of prospects to save time and increase your profits. Additional effort pales in comparison to the time wastedand the loss of revenue, not quickly and effectively with the delaying tactics of any kind given.
